In this episode, I sit down with Andrew Weltchek, Esq. a commercial real estate lawyer and partner at Cohen Hochman & Allen. Andrew loves solving problems and has been doing that for 40 years. Andrew began as a civil rights lawyer in New Orleans. His father, who lived in New Jersey, fell ill, and he found himself relocating to New York City.
If you own property in New York City, you are going to have problems. Andrew prides himself on being very literate and is always looking for solutions. Disputes don’t mean you have to fight it out — you can successfully negotiate it out. Money is better spent getting a favorable outcome without involving a judge or the court.
Tune in as Andrew talks about:
- One of his favorite stories is about a multi-million dollar condo in a curtain face building (facade is all glass)
- Why he practices real estate therapy, not real estate law
- If Andrew can’t solve your problem, he will know someone who can
- Andrew’s advice: don’t seek justice, seek fairness and a negotiated agreement that can be followed and lived with
- More advice: all words in a contract are important, but the most important ones are the signatures
- How Videosocials.net proved to be valuable for him
