You know, there’s a lot of ways to hook people coming into a video, and one of those ways is to be controversial, but do you really want to be?

Hi, I’m Mark Bullock. I’m the co -founder of Video socials.net and phoneBlogger.net. And I’m going to say the answer to that depends entirely on your audience. In other words, who are you trying to reach?

So, what about being controversial is a big deal? Well, a lot of us in polite society, we don’t want to be controversial. We don’t want them to be made to feel uncomfortable and so we therefore want to make sure we don’t make our viewers feel uncomfortable. But there is segments, depending on what we’re providing, the information that we’re trying to convey, and how it’s going to reach them.

In other words, does your audience need to be knocked upside the head? If the answer is yes, then I encourage you — be controversial — because that’s how you’re going to get their attention and you’re probably not going to if you don’t be a little bold, be a little out there, and really kind of call them to the carpet, and say how it is. This is not how I am but it may be how you are, and it may be that your audience needs to hear that.

Now, that being said, where are you putting your content? Who else is going to see it? Something to know about and something to pay attention to — because the truth of the matter is is that great marketing is a two -edged sword. It cuts and gets to the people that you want it to get to. In other words, it attracts them to your content and to you. And it pushes away those that it’s not a good fit for.

Question you need to ask yourself is — are you pushing away those that you want to get the message, or are you drawing them towards you when you decide to be controversial? Not a black and — it’s not a black and white answer. It really has to do with you knowing and understanding who your target audience is and where they are and how you’re reaching them.

Hope you found that valuable. Just some thoughts. No particular take away from it other than, if you did find it valuable, you can find lots more tips like this at Video socials.net/Academy. Again, Mark, Video socials — have a great day.
