Videosocials.net and phoneBlogger.net COO and Co-Founder, Mark Bullock, talks about how scary it can be to get back to doing something that you stopped a while ago. Even though you know you CAN do it, the fear and anxiety that you had when you first tried comes back full force.

So, have you ever been really good at something that was maybe difficult to learn, difficult to get good at? And then you took a break for a while and coming back created quite a bit of anxiety.
Hi, I’m Mark Bullock with Videosocials.net and phoneBlogger.net .
And I’m talking about taking a break from Videosocials , but I wanted to give you a story because I took a really long break from riding a bicycle, a matter of fact, about 40 years.
So since high school I hadn’t been on a bicycle and I bought one of those new e-bikes, right? So it’s electric pedal assist. Well, I’m not 40 years younger, like I was when I originally rode and I was pretty good at it back in the day and I’m a little heavier and certainly not in the condition that I was back then. And I had a lot of trepidation about getting back on that bicycle. I always say, yeah, you know, once you learn how to ride a bicycle you you never forget.
Well, you never really forget the mechanics but your body, after a while, just doesn’t necessarily have the same balance, etc. So it took a little practice. It was a little frustrating at first because it was taking practice. It didn’t come back naturally. I don’t know if you know, but those e-bikes can get moving quite quickly so, you know you’re going downhill and you’re getting up, you know, it’s got a speedometer on it. I’m going 25 mph. I’m a big guy. I really don’t want to do a face plant. Right?
So but that really had me think about, we’ve had a lot of people that have tried out Videosocials, done it for a few months, started to get over their nerves, started to get going and maybe they’ve taken some time off, maybe a few months, maybe a year. But the fact of that matter is is I think you might be resisting trying it again or coming back to it because of that same anxiety that came up before the first time that you did it.
The fact of the matter is you have done it, you have seen that… how it’s done. The first time back may not be as smooth as the time that you stopped and restarted again. But that’s okay because guess what? Videosocials is a great place to practice and experiment and a supportive and encouraging group of people that are there with you, ready to offer a lending hand. If you fall off, you’re not going to get hurt because it’s your recording. You do with what you want.
Again, Mark, Videosocials.net, phoneBlogger.net . Have a great day.
