So, I’ve got a dirty little secret for you when it comes to social media.

Hi, I’m Mark Bullock with Videosocials.net and phoneBlogger.net . And we’ve been involved with, engaged with social media for more than a decade through phoneBlogger.net and our Practice Marketing Incorporated, which is our parent company that we created.

And so, we’ve been around the block when it comes to social media and yes, you need to look at statistics. Yes, you need to get things out there multiple times because social media has such a short -term memory. There’s a variety of things that you need to do, but there’s one thing and it’s two parts.

There’s one thing that you need to look at from an approach standpoint, and realize — that will take whatever you’re doing to the next level. And without doing it, you’re just not going to get there. What is that?

One is to realize that the content that you produce needs to be valuable for the audience that’s watching it. So, that’s part A. It needs to be educational, needs to be informational, does not need to be self -promotional. Obviously, you want to have calls -to -action. Obviously, you want to tie whatever you’re talking about back to your business. But it needs to be valuable for the watcher, the listener, whatever content that you’re producing.

But the big secret is that social media is not designed to be and is not a broadcast medium. And that’s the way that most of us treat it. We’re trying to throw a whole bunch of stuff out there and and then hands off. It’s designed to be a conversation, a series of conversations between members on those social media platforms.

So, if you want — I’ve said this before — if you want people to pay attention to you, pay attention to them. You want people to engage with you, engage with them.

So, whoever is liking your post, whoever is commenting, whoever is sharing, that’s the place to focus. That’s the place to engage, because yes, you need to get it out there, you need to… you need to post it.

Videosocials is all about getting content created and getting it posted. But the next step is the most important one, and it’s the one that we can’t do for you, and we can’t automate. And that is your engagement with your audience. You liking what they do — you commenting on what they do — you sharing what they do. And, if they’ve given you the gift of doing any of those things for you, acknowledge them. Thank them. See if you can’t find a way to reciprocate.

Have a conversation with your audience. Conversation’s a two -way street. Producing a piece of content that you post out there is just one side of that conversation. Complete the loop by allowing them to engage with you and you back with them. Now you’ll start seeing people really engage and share your videos and like your videos and comment on your videos, as an example.

Again, Mark — Videosocials.net — phoneBlogger.net — Have a great day.
